Native of Jolon, rancher in Wild Horse Canyon. During World War II served as civilian flying instructor at the Army Air Force primary flying school at King City airport. Subsequently served in the U.S. Air Force for three years as a First Lieutenant, stationed in Texas.
Died February 28, 1954 in an airplane crash in Pine Canyon near the Salinas River bed. The plane took off from King City airport at 10 a.m. with Plaskett at the controls and crashed at 11:15 a.m., killing Plaskett and passenger Mr. Salter. Witnesses reported the plane narrowly missed a group of women and children, surging slightly into the air as the engine suddenly roared to life before turning on its back and nosing into a sand bank.
Funeral held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, King City, with Rev. Ellon A. Bayard officiating. Buried at King City Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 67.
