William P. Plaskett was born April 10, 1824 in Bethlehem, Clark County, Indiana, son of Samuel Plaskett (1784-1858) and Maria Rush. He was the younger brother of William Lucas Plaskett (1818-1909), patriarch of the California Plaskett family.
William P. came to Baldwin, Kansas in 1869 and moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1885. He was a prominent Mason and Odd Fellow. He died November 26, 1907 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, of paralysis, aged 84 years. He was buried in Baldwin, Kansas.
He was survived by his widow and six children: Mrs. C.W. Roberts, Mrs. Bert Wiggins, Miss Emma Plaskett, Miss Mattie Plaskett (all of Lawrence/Douglas County, Kansas), John Plaskett (Kansas City, Missouri), and Elmer Plaskett (Excelsior Springs, Missouri).
