Mrs. William Cruikshank Sr. (c. 1840-1878) was the wife of pioneer miner William Cruikshank Sr. and mother of William D. “Willey” Cruikshank.

MOVE TO THE COAST: In the early 1870s, the family moved from their home in Calaveras County to settle on the south side of Villa Creek, about 70 miles south of Monterey.
DEATH: Died when Willey was 16 years old (c. 1878). “This was a great sorrow as he was devoted to her.” She was buried near the home on Villa Creek and “Willey carefully tended her grave as long as he lived.”
