Three Mills Shipped from San Francisco by Sled
Three sawmills came down the coast by ship in 1886 — then went up the mountain to Los Burros by sled.
In 1886, three mills were shipped from San Francisco, unloaded at the Old Landing off Point Gorda, and taken by sled to Los Burros. These mills were for Sam Pugh, Will Cruikshank, and Clay Dodge. Since early days a sled road had sufficed for bringing in supplies to the remote mining district.
