The Wagon Train Indian Incident

A man on the wagon train shot an Indian woman. The Indians demanded a life for a life — and got one.

The story most recounted is the one about a male member of the wagon train who shot an Indian squaw. The Indians demanded the man. A life for a life. The man was given up, scalped, skinned, and hanged. In these days when one is being reminded so often about the white man’s aggressions, it is pleasing to know that not always was there rank injustice.
