An unusually high order of social life prevailed in the isolated Pacific Valley community. A band was organized and a literary club was formed. An unusual feeling of clanship existed in the isolated community. The Plaskett boys married school teachers - the trail over the mountains was so perilous that once in the valley, the teachers married and settled down rather than face the dangerous journey back out.
