Fresh off the Panama steamer, the Plasketts lived in a tent on the San Francisco sand while they built.
After arriving in San Francisco by steamer from Panama, the Plaskett family lived in a tent for several weeks before building houses. They then built waterwheels (William was a wheelwright by trade) and began mining operations.
