Reason Plaskett - Church Builder and Plant Collector
Born in a mining camp, Reason Plaskett built churches with one hand and collected rare plants with the other.
Reason D. Plaskett (born December 1852, Cherokee, California) was instrumental in building the old church at Jolon with his two brothers Robert and Marion. He later began collecting plants and sending them to renowned botanist Alice Eastwood from December 1897 through at least April 1898. His collections in just over 5 months included at least 6 new species or varieties.
