Mother Krenkel Rode Mule "Gabe" to Her Wedding

Margaret Schmidt agreed to marry Jim Krenkel after visiting his Los Burros home and liking what she saw. They married June 23, 1902 in San Luis Obispo with Rev. Clague officiating. A shivaree was given them that night. After the festivities, they took the trail to the Coast, Margaret riding a trusty black mule named “Gabe.”
