The Mill Creek rough named Jack Dempsey once settled an argument with a cast-iron skillet.
A rough-looking character called Jack Dempsey had a cabin on Mill Creek. In a fight with a fellow worker he once broke a cast iron frying pan over the mans head. Ed Dutton, the Jolon constable, was summoned and Dempsey cooled his heels in jail for 30 days. Ed Dutton kept the broken skillet among his relics for a long time.
