Curnell Horry Mansfield Killed by Runaway Horse
Curnell Mansfield married the first white child born in Mendocino County — and died under a runaway horse at 71.
Curnell Horry Mansfield, who was William Lucas Plasketts son-in-law (married to Mendocina Plaskett, the first white child born in Mendocino County), died July 27, 1906 at 71 years of age. It is said that he died as the result of wounds inflicted by a runaway horse. He had three sons (Jasper, Ed, and Peter) and a daughter Laura.
