Carl Sands Drowns in Well
Carl Sands was being hauled up from the bottom of a well when the rope failed him.
When Carl Sands (who married Irene Plaskett) was around thirty, he and a Mr. Bradford were working on deepening a well. Bradford pulled Carl up from the well with a rope. As Carl was coming to the surface, he hit his head on a board and fell back into the well where he had been working.
Bradford ran for help, but by the time he got back, it seems gas that had accumulated in the well had made Carl black out and fall face first into the water, where he drowned.
Carl had married Irene Plaskett (a granddaughter of William Lucas Plaskett) and had two daughters and a son: Genevive, Carla, and Les. He looked remarkably like his father Ed Sands.
