Byron's House Torn Down

Byron's sturdy ten-room house survived every coastal winter — but not the sale to Hearst.

The Byron Plaskett home was a two-story, 10-room house, sturdily built to withstand the coastal weather. It stood in good condition until the family sold to Hearst in 1922, when it was torn down and the lumber was used to build a house near the forestry headquarters.
