Mary Elizabeth McClary Alderson Lumpkin

Mary Elizabeth McClary was born in Hugo, Oklahoma in 1907. She attended Southeastern State Teachers College in Durant where she received her life teaching certificate with the spring class of 1926. That same year she married Jerry Alderson, a fellow educator, at his parents home in Durant. After Jerry died in 1939, she later remarried to a Mr. Lumpkin and moved to California in the 1940s, living in Fresno, then Concord and Walnut Creek. She died in Petaluma, California in 2010 at the age of 103, and was buried back in Durant with Jerry.
